THE WORKSHOP:

Character Development for Bellydancers - by Karolina Lux

Too many times we limit our performances to a habitual routine of : “Go on stage, smile, and look like a princess”, or “Go on stage, frown, look brooding”, etc…Using ideas from her training as an actress, Karolina will help dancers create, manifest, and explore the depth of a new variety of characters on stage. From literal story telling through gesture, to more abstract concepts through movement, this class will explore a myriad of ways to deepen your sense of connection to your music, personal experiences, and the all around art form of your dance on stage. After the lecture, exercises, and activities in this class, you will take your performances to a new theatrical level! Besides manifestation of concepts and characters through movement, we will discuss integration of costume, props, set and more. Give your dance the element of theatrical expression and presentation it deserves!

Sunday, February 8th | 4:30-6:30pm
Please arrive 10 minutes early for check-in.
