Showgirl Secrets: Stage Make Up ~ Eyes, Lips and Contouring:
Please come with a clean face!
*Bring your own make up, brushes/applicators, a mirror ( or use the studio mirrors) a set of false eyelashes and eyelash glue, make up remover

This workshop is apart of an eight week series covering just about everything you need to know about performing burlesque: from dance technique, prop work, costuming, stage makeup, strip tease mechanics and character development. Each week focuses on a different topic; there’s something for everyone, from beginners and new performers to professional level dancers. Take the entire series or drop in a la carte.

Princess Farhana teaches and performs burlesque worldwide. She’s headlined several festivals, was was the keynote speaker at Burly Con 2015, and has been a judge at the Burlesque Hall Of Fame’s “Miss Exotic World” contest. Princess Farhana was one of the stars of America’s first and most well-known neo-burlesque troupe, The Velvet Hammer and was the principle dancer in Margaret Cho’s touring burlesque show, “The Sensuous Woman” from 2006-2008. She performs regularly in LA with Booty Underground. It is an absolute treat to have her at MAS teaching an entire 8 week series!!! 

10/11 Princess Farhana’s Costume Clinic:
Everything you always wanted to know about creating costumes for the stage, from rhinestones and feathers to embellishing gloves, eaddresses and pasties; tips on where and when to use snaps, hooks , zippers and Velcro. Tips and tricks to solve
*Please bring a tablet or pen & paper…and any costumes-in-progress or street wear you’re thinking of turning into a costume

10/18 Stage Presence, Character Development, and Crowd Control:
We will start off with theater games and body language study, address stage fright issues, and work with crowd control concepts. Class ends with a guided meditation to help you get into your character
* Please bring heels or ballroom shoes, a tablet or pen and paper for taking notes, and a pillow for the meditation

10/25 Building An Act ~ From Concept To Performance:
This class focuses on everything you’ll need to create a fully realized, polished performance: from music selection to narrative, character work to costuming and choreography. Bring your tablet or notebook and a pen, and any ideas you have for your act.
* Bring your tablet or notebook and a pen, and any ideas you have for your act. If you already have an act in started, bring your music on an ipod or CD.
